COVID-19 Updates

May 18th Update:

Games Postponed til June - Start Date TBD
As you know, NAKID Social Sports games are currently on hold due to the pandemic. Our initial plans were to resume playing in May. However, Mecklenburg County has closed all fields to organized sports for the rest of the month. Therefore, the earliest we can resume our season is in June.

As North Carolina rolls out it's phased reopening plans across the state, we cannot predict with certainty the exact date we can return to play. The state's published plan for each of the phases are vague regarding the number of people allowed to gather. Both Phase 2 and Phase 3 state that there will be an "increase in the number of people allowed at gatherings" but we do not currently know what the threshold for gatherings is in either case.

We hope to be able to resume games safely & in accordance with the law at some point in June. Once Mecklenburg County reopens the fields to organized sports, and the state publishes more clear & precise guidance, we'll be able to update you accordingly. We may need to deploy some creative scheduling to make sure we are meeting the limits on public gatherings!

We thank you for your continued patience and perseverance as we artfully navigate this new and hopefully temporary reality. As we've stated in previous updates, we are currently unable to provide refunds at this time. If you would no longer like to participate this season, we can remove you & issue a credit to your NAKID account to use on a future season of your choosing.

We'll send out any updates regarding the league as soon as they are available. In the meantime, feel free to e-mail us with any questions or concerns you might have.

Stay safe & healthy!

April 7th Update:

Spring Kickball Updates
NAKID Social Sports games are currently on hold due to the safe & effective social distancing measures in place across the U.S. We are happy to do our part to flatten the curve but that doesn't mean we don't miss our kickball nights! Keep reading for more information on our spring program and how we're planning to pick back up again once it's safe to do so.

Spring Season
COVID-19 struck just as the spring season started. We only got a tease of one week of games and didn't even hand out t-shirts yet. Therefore, the best course of action is to pick up right where we left off.  Once the social distancing measures are lifted, we'll return with Week 2 games and continue through the rest of the season as planned.

Once we have the ability to reschedule the games, we will email all registered players will a revised spring season schedule. The latest update we have received from Mecklenburg Parks is that Clanton Park is closed through May 15th. Therefore the soonest we could restart is Thursday May 21st and that's what we're shooting for. This time frame may change as the next few weeks unfold. But rest assured, your spring kickball fun will proceed and you will get all 6 regular season games plus playoffs in your season.

We'll also hand out everyone's t-shirts the first night back. I'm sure Keyur will be excited to get all the shirts out of his garage!

Unfortunately, we are not able to process refunds at this time. We are most grateful for your patience and flexibility, which enables us to sustain NAKID Social Sports and continue to provide the leagues you love. We promise to deliver on the fun kickball experience you expect from us! All spring season games will be played and you will get the full value of your registration fee.

Next Steps

We plan to keep in touch as events unfold & send out any updates regarding spring programming as soon as they are available. In the meantime, feel free to e-mail us with any questions or concerns you might have.

See you soon,

NAKID Charlotte

March 16th Update:

Flattening the Curve: Spring Kickball Postponed

In the past few days it has become apparent that it is no longer safe to operate our leagues as people everywhere fight to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Therefore, all spring programming is currently suspended til further notice.

NAKID Social Sports will be practicing social distancing for the next few weeks. Many municipalities we operate leagues in have already started to close bars, restaurants and parks due to the spread of the coronavirus. Not only is social distancing a best practice, it is the only option available to most of us as daily life begins to shut down across the U.S.

The CDC has recommended all gatherings with 50 or more people be postponed for 8 weeks. We are hoping that these guidelines will improve once our communities get a handle on the spread of the virus. We will have another update to you on the status of our spring season the week of April 6th. We are planning to pick back up on the spring season once it is deemed safe to do so!

This is certainly the biggest challenge NAKID has ever had to face since we began operating. Truth be told, if the pandemic gets out of hand, it could drive us out of business altogether. Countless small businesses, independent contractors, and tipped & hourly wage workers across this country are struggling with the same fears. To anyone who is struggling, please know you are not alone! We are all in this together, come hell or high water. Don't hesitate to ask for help from a friend, family member, or even your friendly neighborhood kickball league :)

We urge you to continue to follow all guidelines posted by state & federal officials. Wash your hands & maintain a safe distance at all times. And if you're in a position to provide help to those in need, consider donating to your local food bank, homeless shelter, or give blood.

If you have any questions regarding the postponed spring season, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at info@playnakid.com.

Stay safe & healthy,
NAKID Social Sports
